Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake revisits one of the most atmospheric horror games ever made. In this review, we break down how the updated Camera Obscura combat, new mechanics like holding Mayu’s hand, and the oppressive village setting shape a remake that respects the original while experimenting with new systems. We also discuss where the combat stumbles and why the series still occupies a unique place in survival horror.

@SamM_Scot: One of my all-time favourite games and I'm extremely disappointed with this remake. It was already done right with the incredible Wii Edition and all it needed was an upgrade remaster, but instead we get a extremely bad frame-pacing at 30fps with a fantastic atmospheric UK dub being replaced by a bland flat almost AI generated American one. Also, I'll NEVER call it the Americanised Fatal Frame as it's original title in Japan and Europe is Project Zero. I suppose normie modern day newcomers won't really notice any of this, but this is another awful modern remake of an all-time classic and I'm so tired of it. Either do it right and/or make a new entry 🙂
@simf6621: Is it just me or there's no film grain on he's capture for the review? It's written he reviewed it on PS5… and he did not mention nothing about it if i recalled… I can't find any info about it if they remove it for the release.I know some people say go on Pc but i have a potato for a pc 😅, so i play my games on Playstation lol
@64Papiculo: It's my favorite horror game ever, really can't wait to replay it after 23 years! 😮 Already preordered it, it will be right on time for my birthday 😁 I hope that new audience can enjoy it despite the challenge and old mechanics, this game is a masterpiece!
@TaiketsuG: Im just happy that the fatal frame series gets any love at all. The series got me into the horror genre in the first place and still think is one of its best building good horror tension and atmosphere.Gonna love the remake in a few days for sure <3
@Sonicstillpoint83: Great review and absolutely hyped for it. I think it’s so interesting that people could’ve missed the original trilogy when they were even available on the US PS3 store just like Siren Blood Curse was, even though that’s considered way more obscure.
@DragonMacWii: If there’s a game which is prime for VR it’s this one. Having the camera up and things in your face is a missed opportunity. Maybe the controls are to make this version more intense. With that said, loved the original. This is worth a play.
@virgil6298: I'm a little worried about the gameplay of the combats but teally like the ambiance so i didn't hesitate to buy it. This game interested me more than RE9 because i have enough of horror games with too much action
@JIM1990Hlv: Ok. Look. The reviewer is a bit dumb. Enemies have health bars. If you are facing an enemy and the health bar does not go down…. Broh…. Brooooh… You don't need to be Einstein to understand.
@nottoday9182: Having played 3 Fatal Frame games, I can semi-confidently say you only need to play one. It'll be fine. They are fine. All doing the same thing and in the current year is a well played out genre.
@blumiu2426: Something very noticeable is that whith each remake the game lost it's 2000s horror film look. It's polished and high fidelity and just looks like a game, not inspired horror piece.
